Tests and Assignments
Students must make every effort to be in school for all evaluated tasks, such as tests and assignments.

Extended Absence
A Student Extended Absence form must be picked up from the main office, completed in advance, and approved by a school administrator, prior to departure. Details are outlined in the next section under Board Police for Homework Policy and Procedures.

Suspension
Details of student responsibilities if suspended can be found in the next section under Progressive Discipline and Suspensions, Page 5 in accordance with the Suspensions under Board Policy and Regulations and the authority of the Education Act

Communicating With Teachers
Parents, teachers and students are encouraged to keep an open line of communication throughout the semester in order to address any concerns or share praise. Curriculum Night and Parent-Teacher Conferences provide forums for communication. Parents and teachers may also communicate via the telephone.

Course Outlines
All students will receive a course outline for each course at the beginning of the semester. It will contain the course name and code and a brief description of the course. It will state classroom expectations and evaluation policies. A breakdown of the weighting of the final summative evaluation(s) will also be stated in the outline.

Mid-Semester and Final Reports
At mid-semester and at the end of the semester, students receive a Provincial Report Card Grades 9-12 that itemizes for each subject a numerical grade that indicates progress to date, an assessment of learning skills, and a record of attendance. The report is based on daily performance and on a variety of assessment and evaluation tasks. Throughout the semester, teachers will contact parents/guardians of students at risk of not achieving a credit so that student, parent/guardian, teacher, and other school team members can work toward student success.
