School Uniform Policy

Philosophy

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is committed to communicating Catholic ideals and values to our students. We strive to achieve the personal and social values that are attached to appropriate dress. As a Catholic community, we are, therefore, committed to standards of simplicity, neatness, attractiveness, modesty, equity and good taste.
By choosing to attend a Dufferin-Peel secondary school, students and their parents have made a serious and long-term commitment to Catholic education. The uniform is part of that commitment. It is a reflection of who we are, how we see ourselves, and how others see our schools. It unites us as a community.

School uniforms should be worn proudly and must be worn in good repair. School uniform items (other than shoes) must be purchased from the Board approved supplier, R. J. McCarthy Ltd. The uniform policy of the schools must be strictly adhered to.

EXPECTATIONS
 - Students are to be in full uniform every day from 8:15 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Students must be in full uniform to attend classes. THIS INCLUDES LUNCH PERIODS.
- A student out of uniform is expected to report to the office before the start of his/her school day to rectify the situation.
- Students are to wear the school uniform when representing the school at an out-of-school event. In most cases, the school uniform will be worn on all educational field trips unless the nature of the trip warrants other attire as approved by the school principal.
- Non-uniform items such as coats, jackets, hats and boots are to be kept in lockers.
- Students who repeatedly violate the Uniform Policy are also in violation of the Catholic Student Code of Conduct and may be sent home to change.

EXPECTATIONS OF “CIVVIES DAYS”
- Participation in civvies days is voluntary; those students not participating are expected to be in full uniform.
- Appropriate and modest dress, as outlined by the school administration, is expected from participants. Inappropriate clothing would include rude or offensive slogans, immodest apparel, or items that do not respect the rights of others. At the discretion of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Administration, students who disregard these expectations may be sent home to change.
