These course focuses on the development of a health lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students' interest throughout their lives. These course focuses on the promotion, development and encouragement of improved personal fitness and self-concept through fitness and strength training.
Grade 11 Class
The grade 11 course focuses on basic gym literacy and introduction to human physiology. The foundations for strength training movements are explored and taught in a manner that promotes proper form and technique. Several different strength training options are explored by the class as they visit professionals in the community in a wide range of fitness areas.
Grade 12 Course
The grade 12 course expands on the concepts introduced in the grade 11 course. The foundational movements are again taught and explored in a manner that promotes proper form and technique. Students will begin to formulate and implement their own fitness plans with the assistance of the teacher and professionals in the community. Several different strength training and fitness centers are visited throughout the course of the semester as a course enhancement.
